Grape Leaves

I thought I'd shift gears a bit to share with you a few of my newest jewelry pieces. I took several tiny grape leaf imprints this past spring when they were just emerging. I create these pieces in layers, sometimes over an entire season or two - like these. If you like, you can see these and more at my ArtFire studio.

I have more pins in the works and necklace pendants to follow. I want to do more "Impressions of Nature" clay ACEOs too, since they were so well received last year. I better order more clay!

Blueberries & Goodbyes

Or maybe it was good riddances.

Monday, July 26, 2010

Last night I sat outside with the full moon for as long as the mosquitos would allow. It took them a while to find me, so the time was more than I might have anticipated, had I anticipated. I set out a few items for blessing and charging, including a glass of wine. Four candles burned around them, but not for long. The green candle of earth and grounding sputtered out as a soft breeze fluttered through.

Today I invested time working outdoors, in the gardens, on the deck completing some new Impressions of Nature, pictured - as well as starting a tangible project that will facilitate a reclaiming of space. Practical space. Or so goes the intention. Grounding efforts, one and all.

I noticed a couple yellow jackets in the wineglass, still set out from the night before. One was struggling for its life and as I regarded this I felt how hard it is to stand witness to a life that is fading … even when it is a life that is not necessarily liked, a life feared even. A grounding realization.

Today marks a full week that I've been home from my most recent travels and it's the first day that I feel fully present. Fully grounded. It's good to be Home.

Hens -n- Chicks Interrupted

Like much of my life these days, this page was interrupted and left incomplete. It's one of those trusting events … where you commit to return … and make Good - however you choose to define it. Peace.

A Promise to Share

I've been away from my little acre, more or less, for the past couple of weeks. No sooner do I touch down to tend and harvest my own little plot, that I'm planning my next round of travels. I've started yet another art journal in a lovely nature-inspired book that was given to me a few years back, a book I've tried giving away but that no one seems to want. So I figured it wanted to stay with my - on my terms.

So over the coming days, as I travel, I'll be sharing my doodles from this new journal, like the one you see here, finished and in-progress, doodles that will - for the most part - reflect the nature-inspired images around me, at home and where 'ere I travel.
